i am trying to install the AOS Dynamics AX in windows server 2012. i have created the databases using Database installation in AX Dynamics setup in SQL Server. Now i am trying to install the AOS feature but i am getting the like this in connecting to database stage....

"Setup cannot use the database MicrosoftDynamicsAx in server VENKAT because its Collation is incorrect". please help me with this error.

Which collation did you select when creating the database? Why can't do what the error told you, i.e. changing the collation?

i have created the Database as MicrosoftDynamicsAx. and i dnt know how to remove the collation error. could you please help me with that?

Open SQL Server Management Studio, right-click the database and open Properties. You'll see the Collation field at the bottom of the General tab. Tell us what value you have there.

the collation is SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS

It looks fine; it seems that the problem is that the installer can't see it for some reason.

Please tell us what exact version of AX 2012 you're installing and what's the exact version of your SQL Server (including service packs).

Drop the database which you have created since it seems to be broken somehow.

Change the default collation on SQL Server to be _CI_AS as well, if it is not. AX will pick up the default collation of your SQL Server instance during installation.

If you did not use the default SQL instance name (MSSQLServer), then you need to provide the instance name like YOURSERVER\YOURINSTANCE too.

Also make sure Windows firewall is not blocking any communication within your Domain profile.

the collation error is rectified I have changed the collation to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AI to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS in the database. the query is "ALTER DATABASE MicrosoftDynamicsAX1 COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS;" thank you for the idea sir..

Hi, I running with this same issue more than 2 weeks now. I can't figure it out.

I am new on AX world and I want to install AX on my laptop for learning purpose (BD, AOS and client.

its a Windows 10 and all the prerequisites are installed.

I installed the database but whenever I try to install AOS I get collation Is incorrect.

I Tried using different collation when installing The SQL Server Instance for AX 2012 R3.

SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. (SQL)

Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS (windows)

Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS_KS (windows)

on each try I get collation Is incorrect (SQL server 2012 express).

I am using AX2012 R3 ISO but I can also have the WMS.

Any help or suggestion please
