Is there a way to cancel remaining quantity in the Output Order?

From memory, I think you're meant to split the picking line - split off the quantity you're not picking. Cancel the line you are not picking, and pick the rest. This leaves you with an output order with no remaining quantity.

If you find a way to adjust an output order where this has not been done, do please share!

It appears that in some instances we haven't been doing so, some order processing people were simply overwriting the Pick Quantity field and registering the Picking Route instead of splitting it.

Then, the reservation was removed from the Output Order to journal out the quantity on hand in AX because we simply didn't have enough on the shelf versus what AX showed we did.

Now that the items are back in stock, I'd like to release these back orders, so I go to reserve the items back in the Output Order, then back to the sales line to do Deliver Now, but I get an error during Pick List generations that says:

    'Quantity Must be Positive'

'A maximum of 0.00 can be entered'

What I'd like to to now is to cancel the remaining quantity I have on this line associated with this Output Order but AX does not allow me to do so saying:

'The quantity cannot be reduced. The number of inventory transactions on order is too low because the quantity or part of it is referenced by an output order or a production order or is marked against other transactions.'

To work around it, I created a new sales line for the remaining quantity just to get the back orders out, but I'd like to find out if there's a way to remove this remaining quantity completely out now.

I'm getting kind of annoyed with this.

Hmm. That was easy. I'm testing this on AX 2012 FP CU7. If you get to the scenario where a quantity was not picked, but was also not cancelled, you can go to the Output order (from the Sales order) and do 'Functions' -> 'End inventory order'.

Once you've done this, you can cancel the remaining quantity. I didn't try, but I assume it would also be possible to Post another Picking List (which should create a new output order).

I've tried this too Guy, still can't cancel the remaining quantity. I may ask our partner to file a case with MS on our behalf. Something isn't correct.
