Hello:
So I recently found all the major updates all 21 of them that is for Microsoft dynamics CRM 4.0. And of the previous incarnation of my set up, I’ve installed no updates (since I didn’t have them until yesterday) at all, re-imported by organization database, and then started the process of rolling it up. Somewhere along the lines of update roll up 4, I got an error that a system user ID doesn’t exist and it couldn’t do it thick. So I decided to rip out my entire installation and do it all over again. My question is this time around can I roll my CRM 4.0 all the way up to roll up 21 and then re-import my existing organization DBA from no updates applied to this freshly updated system? The reason I ask this is I want to avoid the same follow-ups as last time.
Well... Update:
after re-installing my entire environment, I upgraded SQL Server 2005 to SP4, added my production database, then installed and upgraded CRM Server to Update Rollup 21 then installed and updated the SSRS connector to Rollup 21 the SSRS Data Connector. And to ensure completeness I literally installed all 21 update rollups in order rather than going 4, then 7, then 21. After all tat shenaniganary I imported my ORG DB which had no updates applied and during the import, the wizard took care of the rest. So yes, persistence pays off :-)
