Building Query Based SSRS Report and Receive - - The query VendTableSW1 is not valid

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello!  I'm new to D365FO.   We are in the early stages of Implementation and I am using a LCS provided development environment  running Version 8.

I am a BI Architect exploring various options we have in D365FO for reporting.  One option (from several) was to look at SSRS reports.  While exploring a Query Based report, I have encountered a problem after I create a Query from a single table.  In this example, I am using VendTable.

Next, I create the report item - VendTableReport - and attempt to drag the query from above to the report Datasets element.

Upon doing so, I get the following message.

QBrpt_2D00_Error.png

I am able to view data in the VendTable from the AOT using the Open Table Browser option.  I know I can access the table and it has data.   I have attempted this on several tables and have yet to be successful but one time against the CustTable table where I was able to complete the listing of that table with a Query Based SSRS report as of last week.  This week I am striking out.

Has anyone seen this kind of behavior and can recommend a solution?

Thanks!

Shawn

The problem is with the synchronization of database, I didn't face this issue after the synchronization is complete.

Make sure to set "Synchronize database on Build" to "TRUE" and rebuild/build the project. Attempt the same issue again.

    Hi Shawn,

After building the new created query, you can try to right click  "Report\Datesets", select "New Data Set", then set the "Query" property of the new data set instead of dragging the query to the datasets.

    Neither suggestion worked.

Per your suggestion, I have executed a Build on the solution after I created the Query (VendTableSW1).  After that completed, I attempted to drag the query on to the Dataset in the Report resulting in - The query VendTableSW1 is not valid.

I attempted this and it did not make a difference.  I still get - The query VendTableSW1 is not valid.

    Hi Shawn,

I met this error once when I tried to use this query before building it.

You can try to build the solution after creating the query and before you use it in the report's dataset.

Create a new data set manually and in properties select datasurceType = query and in query property select your query.
