Different Dynamics Accounts Will Randomly Jump To Different Parts Of The Page

This is a rather strange problem effecting our support team. Depending on which account in dynamics we choose, it will begin to load, but then automatically jump (perhaps redirect is the better term) to some section of the page that is usually not relevant to what we are doing (for example, the contracts section).  At worse it is a minor inconvenience of course, but it wold be nice to be able to customize this process or at least disable it so we can save a little more time on each customer interaction.  I would greatly appreciate any ideas/suggestions the community has to offer. Thank you very much.

RE: Different Dynamics Accounts Will Randomly Jump To Different Parts Of The Page

    Hi partner,

Have you tried accessing your account page using a different browser? Does the Edge browser have this problem?

If you temporarily disable the Google Chrome add-on and then go to the D365 Account page, will this problem occur?

I think this problem should not be due to plugins or workflows. It seems to be either because of JavaScript or because of other reasons such as browsers.

So please double check if there is "focus" in JavaScript, this is the keyword for the page jump feature. You could copy the JavaScript source into Notepad and use its Find feature to find out if there is "focus".

In addition to the OnLoad event, I recommend you check other events like OnChange event.

If none of the above works, then I recommend that you temporarily disable all JavaScript, business rules, plugins, workflows and business rules for Account entity to see if this problem will occur. Then re-enable them one by one. After each time you enable one, check if there is a page jump problem. This will determine the source of the problem.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Lu Hao

We checked the OnLoad events for various account pages that are jumping around, and none of them seem to have anything in there that would explain the abhorrent behavior.  Any additional suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

This is very useful thank you. Some preliminary digging has not revealed any javaScript issues, but I will check with my manager before we completely rule it out, and get back to you. Thank you very much for your assistance.

    Hi partner,

If you want to view the JavaScript of the form, you only need to go to the form editor to view it.

    1. Click the FORM button on the command bar of the Account form to Open the form editor.

    2. Click on the Form Properties button in the command bar. In the lower half of the Form Properties window (Event Handlers), we could see the OnLoad event used.

    3. Click on the Edit Library button and we can see the source of this JavaScript. We can check its correctness.

    4. Or click the Edit button and uncheck Enable.

    5. Save and publish.

Please follow the steps above to check if this is caused by JavaScript.

If it's not because of JavaScript, then I am willing to help you raise a Microsoft support ticket to reflect this issue to the back office engineer.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

The version is Microsoft Dynamics 365Version 1710 (9.1.0.2251) online.  Fields on the top of any account page are writable, so I am not sure this is it.  I have tried hitting f12 to go into browser debug mode to look for things like ScrollTo or autoScroll  or Onload, and they are in there but in many places but they don't look any different than account pages that don't have the problem.  One interesting thing of note is this. Accounts that we almost never go into, do not have this issue, active accounts we use often all jump to different places, as if Dynamics is remembering something about us using them and assuming how we might want to interact with it. It is unfortunately wrong in its assumptions. I was thinking of getting a chrome extension that lets you customize auto scrolling features on certain web pages, but it would be much better to diagnose and resolve the underlying issue first.

Where would I find editable java-script on forms other than the debugger? Dynamics has so many nooks and crannies it is difficult to know where to even begin.

One thing of note, Dynamics will immediately take focus to the first editable field on a record.  If you have a bunch of subgrids and read-only things up top of an Account record, it could indeed be jumping down to "look" for the first writable field.

This is expected behavior, so if this is undesirable, I recommend moving a writable field toward the top of the form.

If that's not it, I would also look at any OnLoad JavaScript on the Account form to see if there's something stealing focus.

Thanks for the reply Lu Hao. Sorry I did not include those pertinent details. Clearing cache and cookies has no effect, and it does occur in multiple browsers for multiple people on my team.  We are a team of technical support reps for an online database company and we are all kind of stumped on this one, as Dynamics can be a difficult beast to tame.  I am not in the office today and can't login on my chromebox, but when I get in on monday I will find the Dynamics 365 version for you. It is a purely web based version.  I can include some screenshots as well if it helps, as it is a difficult problem to describe.  On certain accounts the browser does not redirect you, on other accounts it redirects you to various (seemingly random) areas of the account page. It makes little sense, and started about 2 weeks ago.

    Hi partner,

Please clear your browser cache and cookies, and try another browser to see if it works.

Also, what is the version of your D365?

Does this issue exist in the environment of others in the organization?

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Lu Hao
