SSRS Fixed Table Size Report for Preprinted Format

ReportReport

Hi All,

I have a requirement to create a report with a fixed size table. Suppose I have a header, a table in report body and a footer. The table in the report body must last until the footer so the report will always be full sized page even if the table only contain 1 row.

Report-1.jpg

Can anyone suggest how to achieve this in SSRS?

Thank you.

    Hi Esther,

If the table just contain one row, then what do you want to print in the rest of the area until the footer section?

    Thanks,

    Baber.

If you set fixed size for table and only have one row,the other space will be show empty.

    Hi Esther,

Add more rows to the table's Details section upto the point where you want the table control to appear. When only one row will appear, the rest of the rows will show no value but span the whole page.

Please verify and let me know if you have further queries.

    Thanks,

    Baber.

    Hi Xavier and Baber,

If I add more rows or if I set a fixed size for the table, when the table contain more than 1 row, the table would be pushed to another page.

What I expect is for the table to adjust exactly into one page size like a preprinted format no matter how much the row in the body.

    Regards,

    Esther

    Hi Esther,

How the table contents can always be on a single page, no matter how much rows are returned from the dataset?

    Thanks,

    Baber.

    Hi Baber,

Sorry, I mean on single page format just like a preprinted paper.

Say 1 page can contain 10 rows. If the data is 12 rows then the report would be 2 page. In the second page the table will contain 2 rows but the table border would still be last until the footer.

    Regards,

    Esther Mulijono

Since there is no concept of Page Headers and Footer in SSRS report.

I don't know whether it is a correct way of doing it but you can analyze the max number of rows that can fit into preprinted body portion. If it exceeds number of rows more than it can accommodate pass a flag indicating to move to new page in your dataset.

Assuming your example of 10 and 12.

After 10 Move to New Page

After 12 Insert 8 Tmp rows which will be blank.

    Hi Afnan,

What do you mean by there is no concept of Report headers and footer in SSRS report? We can add header and footer section on SSRS report. I didn't get you. Can you please elaborate if I misunderstood your statement?

    Thanks,

    Baber.

Thanks for correcting me. I meant that unlike Crystal Reports, SSRS reports only comes up with the concept of Report Header and Footer not Page Header and Footer.
