Microsoft 2020 Year End updates for Dynamics GP

My current version on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 is 16.00.0620 R2 – How do I upgrade it to 16.00.0814 so that I can apply the 2020 updates.

I am getting the following error "A previous version of Microsoft Dynamics GP has been detected - To proceed, you need to upgrade your Microsoft Dynamics GP Database"

I have the same question (0)

Sounds like you upgraded your databases but on this workstation the service pack was not applied.  You will need to launch GP Utilities on this workstation with this service pack installed. I would first back up all your databases and then proceed. If you have never done this before I would seek help from your GP reseller. I am not aware of any reason why you cannot go directly from 16.00.0620 to GP 16.00.0874. I would apply the service pack on your server first and update your forms and reports and then apply the service pack to all your workstations. Here is a link to all the GP 2016 service packs.

    Hello SVCW,

Richard is correct in that you will need to make sure the workstation's GP version is running whatever upgrade you are going to next. So when you open utilities, after you sign in there will be a version in the bottom left, this should say 16.00.0814, if it says something older, then perhaps you have multiple GP installs and you are running the wrong one or something along those lines.

Richard, we have been recommending that everyone get to at least last mid-year before going to the 2020 year-end. We normally recommend only jumping about a year and a half, as after that we just seem to see more issues. You can for sure just do the full jump, and it is "supported" in that we will help if you run into issues, its just that these bigger jumps seem to have bigger issues. Usually making the two jumps ends up actually being faster.

    Thanks!
