How to check for unused financial dimension values

Posted on by 8
During migration to D365 F&O my company migrated in 100's and in some cases 1000's of financial dimension values that they would now like to review and cleanse as appropriate.

Is there a way to view through a report or data export for each financial dimension if the value has been used in any transaction, therefore enabling us to assess the volume of unsed dimension values and allow the business to make a decision on if a value should be deleted, suspended or retained as active.

Thanks

    Hi,

To add on Bharath and Alireza, you can also export the voucher transactions data from the system and then make a vlookup with the dimensions master.

Please note- All the aproaches are legal entity specific, hence you need to do this in all the LE if applicable.

    Hi,

As Alireza suggested, you can create dimension sets and run trial balance. Additionally, you can also try a report called 'Statement by dimensions" and enable options without transactions.

    Hi,
There are several approaches to generate this report. One option is to create a financial dimension set, define specific combinations, and run a trial balance for a clearer overview. Alternatively, you could consider building a dashboard in PowerBI. By exporting the relevant entities (e.g., General journal account entry, financial dimensions, and financial dimension values), you can structure the report for enhanced visibility and analysis.
