Hi,

One of my clients is facing table locking issue and it's common in their daily business. He asked me to provide some work-around to continue their daily transactions

I searched a lot for this and found many articles. Can you please suggest the way which has already been implemented to reduce locking and working.

please describe more in detail.

in general locking of tables is needed, that at one time only one person/one (write) transaction is using the table to prohibit junk data and wrong results.

check if it is a problem in a customized object.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

During normal working days, users facing the error message("Table GL entry is locked by another user, please wait or try again later").

Yes, I have the same pdf, got one of my colleagues and checking this also.

I checked Stryk practical examples(dynamicsuser.net/.../solving-blocking-issues-practical-examples.aspx) also to improve C/AL code also as per the setups in my client DB.

Is there any pattern on this problem? As in any time or action result in this error?

What is the costing type used in this system? This sometimes happen when you have average costing.

HI,

This is not in any fixed pattern. They told me that they can face this error in almost any activity(PO, So, Journal posting, warehouse activity, TO).

Also, this is obvious that they have items with costing method Average and in large no. almost 31000 items.

G/L Entry Table Locking is Redesigned in NAV 2013 so please also check whether you can upgrade to NAV2013

try following:

restart server where sql server and/or nav server reside, restart the client(s)

delete the data in table object metadata (nav dev. env.)

recompile all nav objects

restart sql service

restart nav service

check if you then the same problems

then add a new nav service instance and use a cronus demo db.

check then if you have with that db/nav service the same problems

One of our client had this problem and he still does have it. It is because of the average costing method, I am sure they have set it to on posting. So that transaction get adj. with every transaction.

If you have set the cost adj to on post then change it to a batch job.

Hi Bheem,

Tharanga is correct. G/L Entry table is locked during post inventory cost to G/L.

Check setup Automatic Cost Posting and Automatic Cost Adjustment on General tab of Inventory Setup. Let user run Post Inventory Cost to G/L report at suitable time of the day.
