BOM Cost Rollup - Using Item Purchase Price

Posted on by 330

Hi All

I have created a very simple BOM that is made up of 3 or 4 raw materials.

I have a calculation group with a cost price model of 'Item purchase price' however when I calculate the BOM of my finished good, the cost prices are being taken from the costing sheet (released product > item prices) and not the purchase prices which is on the 'Purchase' fasttab.

Have I missed anything?

Thanks

    Hi Miller

That test is surprising. It should not pull any values from Pending costs.

It should pull from active costs as you have the ability to maintain purchase price by site by product dimension in Cost versions which you will not be able to do through the 'Purchase price' on released products. The last updated active cost will be updated in the 'purchase price' of the released product.

As for as calculation group is concerned

[1]Trade agreement value looks up purchase price posted into trade agreement. This makes sense when market constantly changes purchase prices and it is better to refer to updated versions of trade agreements than some standard against the item

[2]Inventory price value looks up dynamics cost price calculated in the inventory module->On-hand. More relevant when you are not using standard cost values.

With further testing I have found...regardless of the calculation group the costs for component items that make up a BOM are pulled as follows - in this order:

    1. from any pending costs - if they exists

    2. from the active cost - if it exists

    3. finally from the purchase price on the released item

Not only the standard cost items. If the product has a standard cost but the materials do not, the system still takes the purchase prices from the same costing model as the product, i.e. STD.

    Hi Miller,

For standard cost items, cost/purchase should be maintained on item item cost model instead of directly on the item master. It will automatically update the price on the released product.

    Thanks,

Hello, no, you haven't missed anything, this is now the new AX works. You need to replicate your purchase prices into the ItemCost table with the type "Purchase". You can mass import them through the respective entity, then activate the costing version at once.:

    1) Export InventTableModule.Purch

    2) Convert and import them as pending prices (Type = Purch)

    3) Activate the costing version (it writes back to the InventTableModule.Purch, among other things)
