    Hi ShaqAX,

Have you registered the application in Azure Active Directory as stated in the documentation? Set up the downloadable VHD for first use - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs

    Hi Andre,

Yes, I did and succeeded. I already can access F&O. This is actually the continuation with my previous issue ->

    community.dynamics.com/.../setup-development-environment-from-downloadable-vhd

I put as Verified already as I thought it was fixed, turn out the provisioning failed.

There is something about the speed as well I would like to clarify in regards of this VHD usage ->

-> Does it still require fast internet connection ? since this is using Hyper-V Windows features, but inside VM is very slow.

Actually even my PC now very slow (outside VM) although I have 16G RAM (used 75% while running this Hyper-V). Intel Core i5 10th Generation. The Disk and CPU it self still below 20%.

    Thanks,

    Hi ShaqAX,

Are you able to connect to internet from within this virtual machine? If you open an internet browser, can you open any website?

I used 16 GB in the past, but now notice that due to other programs, like Teams, 4GB for the remaining host services is quite tight. I'm now using 32GB which is running more smoothly.

To check what might cause the time-out, you can also use a web debugging tool like Fiddler.

Is changing my hard disk from HDD to SDD will affect / boost the performance ?

And, sorry, I also still need to know whether I'm still need to have fast connection when using this Hyper-V. ?

    Thanks,

If you are using a vm in hyper V , SSD is almost mandatory to increase performance and give at least 24 Gb of memory to VM

you can use RDP for enter VM in low bandwidth networks

    Hi ShaqAX,

There is a big performance difference between SDD and HDD. Where I had HDDs with about 100MB/s, the SDD is easily having a speed above 500MB/s. For additional performance, I'm using a second (external) drive connected via USB-C/Thunderbolt. This separates the I/O used by the VM and the Windows operating system.

This is quite interesting and challenging. For RAM, unfortunately my NB can only be upgraded up to 16GB, so it is already maximal. However I just changed its drive to SSD and yes, it is recognizable faster.

Andre, do you mean you put the VHD file in that 2nd drive via USB ? So when we want to run Hyper-V and open the VM, we're need to attach the 2nd drive first ?

I'm also wondering, since now with 16GB I am noticed the memory is indeed worrying (85%-90%), if I install Microsoft Teams inside VM instead in the Notebook itself, will that works and better performance ?

FYI, the NB will be utilized for this Hyper-V only, I will not use it for personal or other purposes, so might worth to consider not install anything, but because I may need to discuss and share screen, Microsoft Teams will still needed.

    Kindly advice.

    Thanks,

    Hi ShaqAX,

I wouldn't install Teams within the VM. If you go for the second drive, then indeed you first need to attach it before starting the VM. Ensure you are using USB-C as older technologies might limit the transfer speed which again slows down the performance.
