CSSP General Question

Hi All,

I have a general question regarding the Customer Self-Service Portal. We currently have the application pointing at a Sandbox Instance where we are configuring and testing the portal. Once we are happy with testing, when we point the Portal to the production instance, does the customizations carry over to the production instance? As in if I go to Portals > Page templates etc, will all customizations we have made in the sandbox carry over to the production instance? Thanks for any info!

    RE: CSSP General Question

    Hi,

The customization's will not carry over to Production.

You will need to migrate the configuration and customization's manually.

The steps you will need to take are -

    1. Set-up / Enable the Portal in Production.

Microsoft will add the Portal managed solutions in your Prod environment.

    2. Export and import the Portal configuration data from sandbox to Production

This is all the Portal data configured like web roles, entity permissions, entity list and forms etc.

You can use the Microsoft ConfigurationMigration tool available in  SDK.

    3. Export your customizations in a solution from sandbox CRM instance to Prod instance. Publish the solution.

    4. Now you should be able to see the Portal with all your configuration and customization's in Production.
