DMF missing formular to change the sequence of xml attributes

Dear all,

since at least version 10.0.13 the formular to change the sequence of attributes in an xml-file is missing... Maybe I'm too blind to find it...

I'm looking for MenuItem DMFSourceXMLEntityAttribute and same named formular.

As nearly all formulars and menu item concerning DMF are obsolete, I like to know if there is anything new available to change sequence of attributes in an xml-file...

Hope someone hcan give me an answer? ;-)

Regards

Christian

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Christian,

I'm not quite sure what exactly you are asking here. Is it really important to have another sorting of attributes in a XML file?

    Hi Andre,

well that is quite simple... I found out that also the sequence in an csv-file will be affected with this functionallity... In my case we use the csv-file as an interface to a external quality management tool and a production planning tool... And these tools need a special sequence of the fields in the file...

    Regards

    Christian

    Hi Christian,

You are looking for an option to specify a sequence. There is an option if you go to the target fields via the Data entities form. This seems to be ignored for export. Can you share what exactly you were using before? Any screenshots?

    Hi Andrè

I send an menu item that refers to the obsolete form in the first thread...

DMFSourceXMLEntityAttribute, but you need an active buffer, so take this way:

Include mi=DMFDefinitionGroup in your URL then you get this formular:

With the red marked button you reach following formular

    pastedimage1605612049738v2.png

With the UP and DOWN-button now you can change the sequence of the fields...

If using CSV file, you could use some middleware tool to transform the file, changing the sequence of the fields.

For XML you could use XSLT transformation in the data project.

    Hi Nikolaos,

is that serious? in standard d365 there is the possibility to change the sequence and I have to use an external tool? MS is going far away from the daily work...

Otherwise... seemingly the obsolete formula also works for xml only... maybe it also works for cvs-files? But I could not find the xslt transformation in my data projects...

I'm not so familiar with the topic. But also in AX2012 AIF the XML schema had fixed field positions (in alphabetical order).

It seems that in your case you have two systems:

    - D365FO can export only in certain format

    - The target system can read only in certain format

This is quite often the case with systems integrations. And that's why you might need some middle man to convert the format. There are plenty of free and commercial solutions out there, one is LogicApps.

    Nikolaos,

Well... that is not qiuet right...

be the sequence will be: First the key field(s) and then the other fields in alphabetic order... but that is not so important... your're welcome... ;-)

AND... in version 10.0.10 it was still possible to change the sequence!!! When we updated to version 10.0.13 the needed formular was not arrivable in the application anymore and in VS I found out that nearly all formulars from DMF framework are set to obsolete!

In import you can map the fields any way you like but in export it's quite limited. I didn't even know that the now obsolete feature even existed.

Too bad that in your target system you can't map the fields differently in import.

In general it's of course nice to have such features. But on the other hand I see it as more efficient if not all tens of thousands of applications in the world have to implement their own mapping features. Instead let them import/export in "native" format and let's concentrate the mapping development efforts in a handful of imtegration softwares.
