Dynamics NAV for Italian Company - EU Compliance

(1) ShareShare

We are working with an Italian Company that we want them to use Dynamic NAV in Italy.

Wondering is there any EU Compliance issue with regards to how they should connect to Dynamic NAV.

We have a data center in Hong Kong where we have the NAV Server for both US/Canada and China/Taiwan to connect to.

Wondering if it is possible to have the Italian Company connect to the Data Center in Hong Kong to use Dynamic Nav or do they need a NAV Server physically located in Italy? Is there any EU Compliance regarding this issue?

Appreciate any input regarding this.

Thanks
Berlinda

    Hi Berlinda,

We had our data center in Singapore in my previous job. Including our Italian subsidiary. No problems for what we heard about. And not heard about any EU countries where it should be an issue.

If you say you have a NAV server with the US/Canadian version, then you might have a whole different problem. Even if the NA version has full VAT functionality, then the Italian government have a long list of further requirements for Italian companies. These have been build into the Italian version, but you will not find them in the US/Canadian version.

We will also be getting the Italian Version based on the requirements for Italian Companies - as it has to be localized for Italy.

It is good to know that there is no issue having them connect to our data center in Hong Kong based on your experience.

Good! Just in the process of setting up a global project like that (but eventually 60+ countries). We use the NA version globally, and add local legal requirements to the global version per country. And in the same NAV server.

    hi,

i agree with Erik, generally no problems but european standards ask to to ensure "an adeguate level of protection" for sensible data.

I' am not a lawyer but (for my experience) depends on whether or not sensitive data is handled (example: biometric data for people etc .. inserted on CRM .. payroll with serial number etc.)

in this case European standards state that it is necessary for the country hosting the data "to ensure an adeguate level of protection" (however, it must be stated that data is in an extra EU Contry).

i recommend server in EU for italian installations

(i have a lot of Extra.EU installations and localizations hosted in italy or in Dublin BUT non vice.versa)
