Shopify Connector gives every product variant the same description in BC

The Synch of products from Shopify to Business Central seems to give each variant the same description, i.e. the title of the main product in Shopify, without appending the variant description. This means that if you have a product in Shopify with 20 variants, 20 items are created in BC, different codes, but all with the same description. Am I missing something?
I have the same question (0)

Shopify connector for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central can connect Shopify and Business Central.

Product with options (variants) can be imported into Business Central as separate items or as main item with variants.

For the latter, make sure that the SKU Mapping field has Variant Code or Item No + Variant Code value selected.

    For more information, see docs.microsoft.com/.../synchronize-items

Thank you for the response, however, that does not answer the question.

The items created in BC all have different codes, as expected, generated by the SKU Mapping options. That works fine. The issue however is with the item descriptions. Each of the variants is created with the main product description from Shopify and does not include the variant description.

    Hello,

I have the same problem when I'm using "SKU Mapping = Item code" on the Shopify Shop card to sync the products, i. e. for generating new BC items for each Shopify variant. My problem is all BC items have the same name and the Shopify variant attributes

    Variant01
    Variant02
    Variant03

are not passed on to the BC item card. Sync direction is from Shopify to BC. The name of the BC item with "SKU mapping = item code" should rather be something like "[Shopify product name] - [Shopify Variant 1 attribute] | [Shopify Variant 2 attribute] | [Shopify Variant 3 attribute]"

Did anyone find a fix for this?

    Regards

    Chris

It appears you're encountering an issue where, upon synchronizing products from Shopify to Business Central, each variant is assigned the same description—the main product title from Shopify—without appending the variant-specific details. To address this, consider the following steps:

    1. Verify SKU Mapping Settings: Ensure that the SKU Mapping field in the Shopify connector is configured to include variant information. Setting the SKU Mapping to "Variant Code" or "Item No + Variant Code" can help differentiate each variant by appending its unique code to the item description in Business Central.

    2. Review Shopify Product Titles and Descriptions: Confirm that each variant in Shopify has a distinct title or description. If Shopify variants lack unique identifiers, Business Central may default to using the main product title for all variants.

    3. Customize the Synchronization Template: If the default synchronization doesn't meet your requirements, consider customizing the template used for importing products. This customization can map specific Shopify variant fields to the corresponding description fields in Business Central, ensuring each variant retains its unique description.

By implementing these steps, you should be able to ensure that each product variant from Shopify is accurately reflected with its unique description in Business Central.

For detailed guidance on configuring the Shopify connector and managing item synchronization, refer to the official Microsoft documentation:

Thank you Saif Ali Sabri, but this doesn't help and your answer looks AI generated.

Can Microsoft developers check the connector please?

@Khushbu Rajvi. this doesn't help, it's the opposite sync direction.

I have the exact same problem here when using "SKU Mapping = Item code" on the Shopify Shop card to sync the productshttps://community.dynamics.com/forums/thread/details/?threadid=d326a587-2bf0-ef11-be20-0022481da8cf

BC Shopify team, can you please address this?

Seems like this question was posted twice. It’s recommended to keep one open thread per question so answers stay clear and easier for the community to follow.

make sure that the SKU Mapping field has Variant Code or Item No + Variant Code value selected

The Shopify connector is working as designed. In Business Central, the Shopify Product shows the main product title and description, while the Shopify Variants (as in my screenshot) already carry the individual variant titles and option values like HIMALAYAN LIME, BERRY POMEGRANATE, HALF & HALF.

By default, BC uses the product title for the item description, not the variant title. If you want each item in BC to show the variant-specific description, you’ll need to map the variant title into the item description through a customization or extension.
