Configure metadata buton doesn`t exist in Visual Studio 2022

Hello,

I have deployed a UDE environment and would like to connect Dataverse through Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 installed on my development machine (OneBox). However, after installing all the required add-ins in Visual Studio 2022, the "Configure Metadata" button is not available, so I cannot complete the configuration and connect to Dataverse in Power Platform.

I have installed all the required add-ins and also tried installing the Dynamics 365 extension manually, but that did not help.

Additionally, I followed the same steps on Visual Studio 2022 installed on my local desktop computer, and there the "Configure Metadata" button is available and everything works as expected.

I would like to set this up on the OneBox environment because many developers in my company use OneBox instead of their local desktops and will need to connect to Dataverse.

I followed the instructions in Dynamics 365 F&O: Configure Visual Studio for Unified Development.

Has anyone encountered this issue before or found a solution?

Hi

Can you please let us know what are all the components you have been installed and did you tried to restart the VS?

Did you enabled the below options?

Individual component installed.
A Dataverse environment with the F&O development tools installed:

Are you able to connect the dataverse, once you have connected to dataverse. configure metadata option should be enabled.

I am able to connect dataverse but unfortunately "configure metadata" button is not visible in VS.

Hi,

Are you sure you deployed a UDE and not a sandbox without developer tools? When connected to the Power Platform environment, have you downloaded the Dynamics 365 FinOps assets? Or is this still running in the background? You can check that status in the Output section in Visual Studio.

It`s deployed Sandbox with D365FO tools, (On a local computer where Visual Studio 2022 has been successfully installed with the same environment configuration, the issue occurs only in OneBox).

Tried multiple times to download Dynamics 365 FinOps assets, but after restart VS still that button is not shown.

Hi,

I haven't tried using a OneBox myself to connect to a Power Platform environment. When you mentioned you downloaded the assets, have you checked if all got downloaded and extracted correctly?

Solved, on OneBox it`s necessary to change CompatibilityMode' in 'Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dynamics\AX\Development. If it does exist set it to 0, then restart VM and extension will install automatically.
