Hi we are trying to cancel a sales order but the inventory is no longer there.  What's the best way to cancel?

    I'm getting this message:

Reservations cannot be removed because there is work created which relies on the reservations.

There is work connected with the order and the work is closed

    Hi Brianmaric,

As there is a closed work associated to this sales order so it will not allow to cancel the sales order until its cancelled and reversed.

Kindly navigate to the load of the sales order and either use "Reduce picked quantity" options in the load line or " reverse work" option in action pane of the load to cancel the work and put back inventory to desired location.

Once you have done the above step you can see the work will get a status of cancelled and an inventory movement work will be created and processed automatically to put back inventory to location described at the time of reversing.

Now you can delete the load which will delete the shipment as well.

After this go to sales order and cancel the sales order the status of sales order will change to cancelled.

    Thank you, that helps.

Unfortunately I have a rather messed up order....

There are two sales lines.  Sales Line A has an original quantity of 1.  Sales Line B has an original quantity of two.  Now, when this order was completed, the work line and load line were out of synch with these two sales lines such that the quantities were reversed.  The work line and load line that corresponds to Line A was shipped and invoiced twice. Conversely, the work line and load line that correspond to Line B was only shipped and invoiced just once.

Now, If I look at the sales line, Line A is shown to be invoiced twice.   Line B is shown to be invoiced once but still shows a sales quantity of 2.   If I try to cancel deliver a quantity of one on this line, I get an error message telling me that it is linked to some created work which I cannot reverse pick and shows to be a quantity of one.

I know this is confusing.  But the order is messed up.  There turns out be an extra transaction line in the inventtrans table for Sales Line B which I think is preventing me from closing the order.

I think I need to delete this line because the warehouse people are not interested in reversing or correcting the order.  They just want it closed.
