keep the organization's data with only 1 license

Posted on by

Hello,

If, in case of renewal of the annual subscription, only one user license is purchased; will the Dynamics 365 organization with all its data be kept and accessible (without loss of data)?

Thanks

It works for me, I renew my only one license. I can't think of any reason that makes me loss of data. It is important to take care of my organization data, so we always keep a backup version weekly.

And for the software, in this case, is Dynamics 365, they always support old data version, just like Microsoft Word or Excel

    Thanks, Lazada.vn at Muarehon.vn

That's exactly what happens. Thank you very much, Ben.

No - both instances will remain as even with a single user you get 1 sandbox and 1 production instance.

    Thanks Ben and Johnny

If we renew only one license, the test organization will be deleted, I believe. it's right?

    Hi,

Sure. No matter how many licenses are purchased , the data will not be deleted from Microsoft if you renew the subscription. The data are store in the storage space , no one can delete that expect the system administrator. More details about D365 Data Management could be referred to the following official article:

    Hope it helps.

    Regards.

    Johnny

Yes, the data will be kept and it will be accessible. The other approach would be to use the Data Export tools to move the data to an Azure SQL database and from there export the data to an on-premise SQL Server instance. I recently covered this exact scenario for a customer which is why I have the second approach - to cover a scenario where the data could not be kept within Azure.
