Item Group and Product Category posting profile for Item

HI,

I have a stocked item[RM001]
I attached product category[Printer] with this item[RM001]
also i have attached item group[IT] with item[RM001]
Now.........
product category[Printer] has linked one ledger account in Posting profile
Item Group[IT] has linked another ledger account in Posting profile

While i am posting receipt, which one system will take

How posting hierarchy will work for this scenario

    Prod.Cat. overrides the item group. If there are no settings in product categories, then item group is used.

    PO will created and amount distribution that time will be shown as per product category but at the time of receiving as this item is stocked item so system will override the product category setup and it will use item group setup.

    Hi Rajkumar,

    I did a quick test. I found an item which already had an Item group and posting profiles. I added the item to a Procurement category, and created posting profile for the procurement category with different ledger accounts. I then posted a Purchase order Product Receipt. I find that AX uses the posting profile of the Item group. Therefore, I vote for Prashant's answer!

    Please help over this issue. requirement is that we need to consume "service" to project during receiving i.e. Product receipt process.

    Dear Finance Consultant,

    I am not sure about your purpose of doing it. But I have checked the possibility of doing this I found it is doable with the help of posting definition. You can override the ledger posting setup.

    Buy direct to project rather than to inventory;

    The purpose of the purchase order determines when the purchase order is consumed and therefore, when items are charged on a project.

    Use this method to purchase items from an external vendor for consumption on a project. You can create the purchase order in the following ways:

    • From the project itself. In this case the project is already defined for the purchase order.

    • By navigating to the project purchase order. (Click Project management and accounting > Common > Item tasks > Project purchase orders.) You must select both the vendor and the project for which the purchase order is to be created.

    Items are consumed when the vendor invoice is updated.

    AX 2012 R2 release introduced a couple of new parameter flags on the “Project management and accounting parameters”.
