Event Registration - Generic Add to Calendar-button in Email?

Hi everyone,

I really hope you can help me out with this challenge!

Description: My client has a webpage that via an API lists all of their events. Their customers then sign-up to these events via Event Registration Forms.

Need: We want to use the trigger "Marketing Event Registration Created" and send out a confirmation E-mail with an "Add to Calendar"-button. The link in the button should obviously contain the .ics information regarding the Event that they have just signed up for, however when creating an E-mai with this button, l I have to choose what specific Event that button should link to.

Question 1: Is it possible to somehow make the button-link dynamic? That way we only need 1 Email and 1 Journey. The reason for this is that they create at least 2 new Events per week. So instead of having to create a form, an e-mail and Journey for each new Event, our wish (and hope) is that the Real Time Journey could automate this process if the Add to Calendar-button is some dynamic.

I am open to any suggestions!

Best regards,

Emil Dusi

    Hi all,

I was running into the same issue when I came across this post: Solved: Generic Add to Calendar button in Real-Time marketing emails. As long as you're using the trigger Marketing Event registration created using Contacts are the target audience, this is possible.
    1. Add your button to the email
    2. Edit button in the sidebar
      • Link to: Add to Calendar
      • What should be added to calendar: Click the dropdown and select "Only the event" or "Only sessions registered" if it's a multisession event.
      • Select Event/Event registration: From other source > Choose Attribute > Trigger > Marketing event registration created > Marketing Event Registration Reference > Click the blue hyperlink "From Marketing Event Registration Reference."
When clicked, the Add to Calendar button will download an ICS file for the event a Contact just registered for. Because you didn't select a specific event in the "Select Event/Event Registration" dropdown, the ICS file is dynamic.

Currently, I'm trying to find a way to make this work when using Leads as the target audience, but hopefully this helps anyone currently looking for this solution!
