Change the Chart Of accounts ....

Posted on by

We have two companies in our AX application .. Company A and Company B.

Company B is the new one created, and unfortunately its been configured with the shared chart of account that company A has. One invoice journal was posted. Now we have to change the chart of accounts, we are open to delete the transactions. Any way to achieve this?

we tried the following.

1. Deleting the transactions using sysdatabasetransdelete and changing the chart of accounts from backend. This doesn't work when we are trying to post the transactions in invoicejournal/sales/returns...throwing out errors pertaining to sub ledger level..but works at General Journal.

SysDatbaseTrnasDelete will not delete everything without minor change in it.

did you run standard SystDatbaseTransDelet without any customization?

    and

what is left behind in tables/screen which is giving error?

Account structure MainAccount-TEST, for the combination 14120, is not valid for ledger Balance Sheet and P&L-CompanyB.

The above is the error we are getting when an invoice journal is validated.

    below are the steps done.

    1. ran the class SysDatabaseTransDelete

    2.  created new COA,Changed the COA from backend, and trying to post the invoices

how you changed chart of account from backend? what changes were those?

also, is your account structure valid?

We changed the chart of accounts  value from Ledger table. Yes, the account structure is valid.

well chart of account value is not saved in LedgerTable. This is saved in MainAccount

in Ledger Table(s) there is a RecId of int64, which has relationship with DimensionAttributeValueCombination

Another point to notice here, if you changed the value in posted journal or open journal

if you can provide some more explanation how exactly you have changed the value, may be we can say something more on it.

    Hi Sohaib,

    What I have done is

1.Open AOT..Navigate to Ledger Table...We have "chart of accounts", which as you said is a recid... it has a drop down where we can select a value, and changed it to new Chart of accounts value.

I am trying to create and post a new journal. I am not doing anything for already posted journals. there were no journals appearing to me because I have deleted them using sysdatabasetransdelete

    Hi Mouni,

You also have to re-enter the main accounts which are setup in the posting profiles. E.g. re-enter the inventory posting accounts.

The current values are referring to the main accounts of the old chart of accounts. Empty the cell, save the record and re-enter the correct main account number.
