When VS is opened, World Wide Web Publishing Service stops

Hi

I got an issue. If I do not open VS, the D365FO will work fine. however, once I open VS whatever I do(click Build models, open projects) will stop the World Wide Web Publishing Service. If I restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service, it will back to work. However when I rebuild project, it will stop again.

Does anyone has same issue? and how to fix this issue?

Thank you very much!

Best Regards,

JustZM

This is the correct behavior. When you start Visual Studio, IIS is stopped and IISExpress is started. Development is done (by default) against IISExpress and not IIS.

    HI JustZM,

when you open Visual Studio the VM switches to using IISExpress instead of IIS. This is to support debugging as a non-admin user. That means when you open Visual Studio, IIS will stop and IISExpress will start. That also means you can't start IIS again because IISExpress is using.

    Hi All

Thanks for your reply. However how can we fix this issue?

This issue does not allow me to debug or check data when VS is opened. I checked links, the change is on version is PU12, but right now my version is Update34 (7.0.5600.35524). I have never seen this issue before.

And before current version, it the it always allows me to check data, form, page etc. But right now, the server becomes unavailable.

When did it stop working? Are you aware of any change at that time?

Is this a freshly deployed VM or upgraded from an older version?

    Hi Martin

This environment is my one of Dev environments in LCS. When I applied Version 10.0.8 with Platform update 32 to this one, the environment still working. The last time apply update is Version 10.0.10 on 5/18; and on 6/11, I did Rotate SSL certificates and Rotate certificates. This week is the first time I login to it for developing after 6/11. Then I found this issue.

    Best Regards,

    JustZM

It's hard to guess, but it might be related to certificates.

Rather than spending a lot of time investigating it, what about simply deploying a new environment?
