Hello,

1. I need to send a notification to the PR requester when his PR is approved. 

a) So I setup a message on workflow notifications to show up when it's approved.

b) I came across a post where it confirms that the email notifications can not be sent to the PR requester.

c) So where should this notification that I have setup in step a) appear for the requester to see? it's not even in action center. 

2. For the email notifications sent for the approver, can Dynamics include the hyperlink in the email so when the approver clicks on it, the PR is opened in application?

 a) I used %Workflow.Link to web% assuming it's used for this purpose. But the email shows path without a hyperlink.

    Hi Loku,

    Yes it is doable.

    You can do it in two ways: 

    • When an approval element is completed.
      • Application will send an e-mail when specified approval is complete. It is done as shown in the figure below.
        • Please note that, you might have more than one approval element in your setup as well. At this point you might need to decide which element should have this notification setup to ensure requester won't receive after every approval element.

    When workflow status is updated to completed.

    • Application will send an e-mail when all approvals are complete and workflow status is updated to Complete. It is done as shown in the figure below.
      • Note that it might take another batch job cycle to update workflow as completed, after all approvals are done. So I configure completion notifications at this step to ensure when user accesses to workflow it will be totally complete.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

    My workflow emails have been generated fine.

    But emails are sent only to approver. So I was wondering if emails to requester is not an option in AX?

    Example:

    Amy (requester)  creates a PR001 and sends for approval.

    Amy's approver gets an email notification to go approve the PR001. - this is working good for me.

    When approver approves it, Amy gets an EMAIL saying 'Your PR001 is approved' - Is this doable? if so where should I set this up?

    Hi loku,

    Can you elaborate the issue in 1-b?

    Do you have e-mail messages generated in e-mail sending status under System administration? If so, there is also a menuitem named "Batch", you should use that to trigger sending these e-mails.

    If your e-mails are failing, you should check:

    • E-mail parameters under system administraion
    • Sender e-mail in your email templates (It should match with the address in e-mail parameters

    If application is not generating any e-mail messages at all, then you should check:

    • Is there an e-mail template set in your workflow
    • Does user allow notifications to be sent by e-mail in user settings
