Using Gmail In Outlook Client to Send email from GP

Hello:

We are using GP 2018 Latest Edition.  We use Gsuite/Gmail in our company. Based on the instructions, I have set up GP email settings to MAPI.  I am using Outlook 2013, a 32-bit client.  However, I cannot get past the message that I need to create a Microsoft Outlook profile. I have tried to change the setting to Exchange under preferences and used the 64-bit client of Outlook but now I need to using Microsoft Exchange which we don't use.  Does anyone have a workaround or software that might work for us?

Thank you

While we haven't done any actual testing with GSuite/GMail, if you're using MAPI, you would need to have a default mail profile listed under Control Panel > Mail, on the machine(s) that Dynamics GP is installed onto. This default mail profile is what GP would use to send emails through.

32-bit email application such as Outlook, you can use either MAPI or EXCHANGE, but if 64-bit, you must use EXCHANGE

If your email account is using any type of multi-factor or two-way authentication, that could potentially be causing an issue.

We'll see if others on this Forum Community have more experience actually using GMail and what they ran into.

    Thanks

I found this article doing a search -- it is from 2017, but still might apply?

Just to drop in a quick note.

If you are using MFA (Multifactor Authentication) for Gmail, then you would want to use Outlook 2016 or newer.

Older versions of Outlook had no way to prompt for Gmail MFA.

Hello Everyone. Thank you for your replies. So far nothing has worked.  However, if we set up an account with MS 365 and set up an email address there, I am wondering if using Exchange Online would fix this issue instead of using Gmail?  Any thoughts?

Yes, we have many customers using 'Exchange' mail in Dynamics GP with O365/Exchange Online.

    Some documentation to look at:

    community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-gp-email-troubleshooting-guide-1743830067

    community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-fall-2020---multi-factor-authentication

There's other documentation out there, but this is the main three.

    Thanks
