Expense management OCR optical recognition of invoices

Hi,

I am wondering if there is anything in the pipeline for the expense management in terms of intelligent data capture with the help of OCR functionality coming along?

We as in Microsoft D365 often compete against Concur SAP which offers the OCR invoice recognition option. This is pretty fly and customer love that.

Does anybody know if there is an APP that can manage something like that for expense of D365 EE?

Or any news for the future?

Hi Veronika Filonenko,

There is no app for OCR, you have to use 3rd party OCR and then you can bring invoices to AX using Vendor invoice automation docs.microsoft.com/.../vendor-invoice-automation

Hi Veronika,

You might have an eye on MS Flow. There are connectors available to third Party OCR tools that might be able to achieve what you are looking for. They are, however, not for free. Have not tried that for expense reports though and you would have to check that out yourself.

Thanks Ludwig,

It is ok that it is not free. I was wondering if anybody had a suggestion around third parties for expense picture optical recognition.

I know we are partners with AXtension third party for Vendor invoice processing. For an example. but this is different request.

Anyhow, thank you all.

Hello Veronika,

By that time, the OCR capabilities of Dynamics 365 has changed.

Now, with the Cognitive Services from Azure, Dynamics 365 will recognized 3 field from the receipt.

- The date

- The amount

- The merchant

This will only be available on a production environment and a sandbox.

I will be great if Dynamics push this to recognized more fields on the receipt to optimize the process.
