Hi all
I am in the process of assessing D365 Finance' suitability for a few use-cases where it will end up dealing with confidential/sensitive datasets. I have tried going through the documentation but unable to find whether it support Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) encryption for data at rest? We would want the ability to control and own the encryption keys used for encrypting all aspects of data stored in the D365 instance.
Is this supported?
Thanks
N
Hi Neelanshu,
The database is already encrypted by Microsoft if they host the environment. If you have an on-premise environment, you can set your own encryption on the SQL database.
If your question is related to encrypting the values of individual fields, you can consider an own customization.
Hi Andre and thanks for your reply.
We do not plan to host the deployment on-premise but would like the ability to control & manage our own encryption keys.
We have already done this for our instance of PowerPlatform (encrypted via BYOK as documented here docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-encryption-key) and for our instance of PowerBI.
Is something similar supported for D365Finance?
This feature is not available for Dynamics 365 F&O. There is another option to do some customization, like mentioned in the documentation: Encryption in finance and operations apps - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs
