Can't install Dynamics 365 Sales Professional: CDS error

Hello,

We just purchased a new license for Dynamics 365 Sales Professional. In our environment, we actually use Dynamics 365 Business Central and is connected to the Common Data Service.

In the Power Platform Admin Center I try to install the Sales app, and this is what I get:

"This app can't be installed in Common Data Service environments. Select a different environment and try again"

Anyone knows what's happening? This is our main environment and we have all our work on it.

Hello, the solution you are trying to install is only for Dynamics 365 CRM environments, as described on it's documentation.

You cannot install this solution in a Business Central environment or a Common Data Service environment as you need the basic modules of Dynamics CRM for it to work properly.

Hello, so in the case that we want to install Sales in the mentioned environment which basic modules do we need? I think we need to keep the data of our current CDS environment

Can we just add the missing modules to our current environment or it would be incompatible?

Hello Enrique,

Unfortunately this is currently incompatible. It can only be installed in Dynamics 365 CRM environments.

please provide further clarification.

I have a client with the same error. The document link you provide above gives directions on install Sales Pro on an existing Dynamics 365 environment, which presumably is CDS. Is this an error?

What exactly do you mean by "CRM environment", since all Dynamics 365 CE now are on CDS.

Hello,

So when you provision an environment in Power Platform you can first select to create it with or without a Common Data Service(CDS) database.

Having a database allows you to use App based services which will then store their data in CDS. Dynamics is one of these App based services.

Then you have a second option to make when provisioning your environment, and that is to either install or not Dynamics 365 Apps alongside your Power Apps environment. If you do not pick this option the environment you create will be a basic CDS database containing only the most basic entities available(Accounts, Contacts, etc).

So when I mentioned before that your environment was a CDS environment and not a Dynamics environment, what I meant was that you only have a CDS database and not a Dynamics 365 instance.

After you create your environment as only CDS please note that you cannot install any Dynamics Apps.
