integrating dynamics 365 FO ( HQ ) with a non-microsoft point of sale system

Hi All,

we have a requirement of integration Dynamics 365 F.O with non microsoft  onpremise point of sale system ( oracle ) 

if anyone of you have worked on such scenarios , request you to please provide pointers

as of now i need info for the below questions 

1) D365 will be the master repository for all the products

2) how to maintain assortments and stores -- can we create  stores and assortments in D365 and tag all the products  or we have to maintain this info in POS system 

3) pricing and promotions will be maintained in D365 

4) how to handle the push and pull of information between online and non Microsoft on-premise POS systems

5) what will be the effective mode of communications real time service calls or asynchronous

    Hi Naresh,

    We used the same setup as there might be a choice in the future to go and use Microsoft POS systems. Note that we did change and add some integration services to be able to feed and get the correct transactions. The advantage we have now, it that each channel can be replaced/updated with another software application for the POS. So, it could be replacing the POS software or changing the webshop application. In fact, we used/created an universal transparent interface (customized).

    Please correct me if my understanding is wrong

    We have to setup stores , products , pricing ,promotion and assortment related stuff in D365 and maintain the exact replica ( table structure related to stores and assortments ) in non ms POS system where the data will be accessed post transactions in POS the data will be synced to retail store DB and after that pjobs will pull the data into retail store transaction forms,

    Hi Naresh,

    At a customer, we have integrated non Microsoft POS systems and also web-shops. We have setup retail channels (stores) for the store POS systems, webshop and other channels. At each channel, we did setup which categories did apply, so each channel could get the correct items linked.

    A few times a day, a custom service will export all product details with channel category and pricing information. In our case, BizTalk is doing the routing of messages to the correct applications.

    For all retail transactions, we used the retail SDK to get the transactions in the retail database. Then the retail sync jobs could import the transactions in the correct tables. Some additional integration coding was used for some business logic to have all fields filled correctly on the sales orders. At this customer the retail transactions are synced once a day. The product information every 4 hours. Depending on the requirements, the schedule can be changed.
