Develop with Finance and Operations and Visual Studio

Hello all,

I am new in Finance and Operations, I have created a free trial in https://dynamics.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-365-free-trial/ .

I would like to start developing with Visual Studio, but it seems I'm not able to connect with the trial, because in the LCS (Life Cycle Service) doesn't appear the cloud hosted environment option. I followed the following links.

I really don't know if it's possible to develop within a trial version, is there any guide to do it or do I need to use the paid version to start learning X++?

Thanks,

Nicolas Payan

    Hello Nicolas,

Welcome to the D365FO development world .

A D365FO development environment comes integrated with quite number of tools/applications. The visual studio, SQL studio, your AOS, where the web app runs. All of these can be found in Tier 1 VM.

You can either deploy it on Azure or download a VHD and host it on your local machine. The trial version you got is just for demo purpose it or for your to get some functional hands-on.

To deploy VHD of the Development environment, which will be cheaper for you , please check:

    https://dynamics365musings.com/d365-development-environment/

Do not hesitate to revert if you have issues.

Hi, The trial environment cannot be used for development. As Komi mentioned, you need VHD files and Hyper v manager to create a local Dev environment.

    Hi NIcolas,

If you are not a customer, as a partner, you can sign up for a preview subscription and then deploy or download VMs via LCS. Read more about this here: Sign up for preview subscriptions - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
