D365FO - Scenario to test ZT230 (Zebra) label printer functionality

Posted on by 730

Hi there,

Would you be so kind to advise the scenario/walkthrough example/video which explains how to setup a test case and validate that Zebra ZT230 printer can print labels correctly.

Here is what I've setup now:

  1. D365FO 1707 PU10 cloud-hosted environment.
  2. Windows 2012 member server with the Document Routing Agent on LAN which has added erp-gen3-zb Zebra ZT230 via the printer's IP address. ZT230-200 dpi ZPL driver is selected.
  3. I am able to print a Production report following Production control / Inquiries and reports / Production / Production order report / OK / click on Print / select printer Name to a regular ERP-GEN2 office printer via the Windows 2012 member server with the DRA installed.
  4. I am able to print a test text file to erp-gen3-zb Zebra ZT230 from the Windows 2012 member server with the DRA installed.
  5. But when I submit the license plate to Zebra ZT230 using the scanner gun nothing comes out of the printer and the printer does not manifest any signs of activity. Here is a report:
    6237.Label-printer.png

So, I am looking for the instructions, how to perform a quick configuration setup without the scanner gun in order to validate that erp-gen3-zb Zebra ZT230 label printer is working.

Many thanks for your help, in advance!

RE: D365FO - Scenario to test ZT230 (Zebra) label printer functionality

    Hi Sukrut,

I am trying to print a simple product label.   The label is 4" wide x 2.5" high.  There is 1 label  column across and 1 label row per page.  Basically, the physical page size is  4" wide x 2.5" high.  This is a 1/8" gap between each lable, and the thermal printer recognizes this to start a align as the start of a 'new page'.

I set my ssrs designer page size to  4" x 2.5" .  Dropped a List onto this and sized it so that there is about .12 space (on each of the 4 sides) between the List and page edge.

Within Reporting Services / Visual Studio, the on-screen preview looks fine and it's showing one label per pdf page in file but when I am feeding this file to Intermec EasyCoder PD42 printer , alignment is not proper i.e. the data stops on the 1st physical page at the 2" wide spot, when it should be printing all across to 4.5".

When I am using collate check box and printing say 10 labels , 5 are coming rightly in die cut label boxes and 5 are not even aligned to label page.

Note: We are on D365 FO PU 7 version and try to use mentioned printer.

If you have suggestion on any other compatible printers , please do suggest .

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for your recommendation, Sukrut!

May be there are any other suggestions with the instructions how to setup a test scenario of implementing label printing in D365 with the help of ZT230 label printer without using gun?

    Many thanks, in advance!

    Yes, Sukrut!

I can print to erp-gen3-zb directly from the member server which hosts DRA. I was able to print to erp-gen3-zb using Word and Notepad. erp-gen3-zb printer was added to the member server which hosts DRA using the erp-gen3-zb's IP-address and the driver which I used was ZT230-200dpi ZPL.
