Document management : How secure is the Security of Azure Storage ?

Hi guys,

As you know in D365 FO, when we attach document, for example in Customer master or in Sales Order, it will goes to Azure Storage. This is refer to setup in Organization Administration > Document Type like below:

May I know the security of this storage ? I assumed it is Azure Blob Storage, and it is bundled together with our D365 FO subscription. But how to maintain this and about the security of it ?

I'm asking in relates if the document is actually part of GDPR, which need to be very secure.

Any advise is appreciated.

Hi,

Azure storage is secure and compliant to GDPR as long as you do correct masking and all.

Also, if this is concerning you, you can always think for keeping the data in your sharepoint from d365, means you will attach in d365 and data will be stored in your SP.

Thank you for your reply. About the Sharepoint is very good idea, makes me wonder why I didn't think of that earlier. In fact, I just found your Youtube video, it looks cool. I want to post here but I'm afraid it is not allowed.

But for the Azure, may I know what to do for the masking ?

Hi Tony,

I do assume you are talking about a Microsoft hosted environment. In that case, indeed Azure Blob storage is used, linked to your Dynamics 365 F&O environment. No user has direct access to this Azure BLOB storage account, making it extremely difficult to get access. Users will only have access to the documents in case they are set up as a user in the application. Via the application security, you can manage which forms and related attachments are accessible.

Microsoft took their responsibility for security and GDPR compliance. How you implement users and their security is the last step to be really GDPR compliant.

Hi Tony,

SharePoint is not included in the Dynamics 365 subscription. That comes separately..
