Setting up product taxonomy for improved segmentation analysis

Posted on by 20

.We have 200 products in our catalog including a half dozen bundles. Marketing would like to setup a taxonomy/classification that is something like this.

Top Group  A

   Class 1

  Class 2

Top Group B

  Class 3

      Subclass a

      Subclass b

  Class 4

       Subclass a

Etc

Some child level groups would have a set of products, and in some instances a child would have another sub classification. The structure seems to fit with Product Families in CRM but we don't want to recreate the 200+ products and we need to ensure we don't lose any revenue history at the product level. In researching families it appears the family requires a new product to be created. That won't work well for us. The driver behind this entire project is to be able to get better market data/analytics.

I'm curious if anyone else has run into this and what solution did you end up with?

    Hi CoutaCRM,

You can create these product families and build the structure first,

and then revise the products to add them to the corresponding product families.
