Reduce picked quantity - Sales and transfer orders

Hi all,

I have met with an issue which I couldn't solved. I'm working on a customer, a user has released to warehouse a sales order, manually assigned it to a wave, proccessed and released it, complete the work created through the mobile device (the web emulator), confirm the shipment but somehow the quantities picked aren't at baydoor location. Instead they are on the user-location without being reserved. Quantity isn't updated to "picked" status so it's not possible to post packing slip using the "Picked" option. It's not possible to post the Invoice neither.

I thought at first that someone has used the "Reduce picked quantity" button on shipments without checking the "Remove unpicked quantity" check box:

Is there anyway to "Remove unpicked quantity" from the shipment after someone has used that functionallity without checking that check box?

I'm stuck on a situation right now where I can't delete Shipments or Load lines because work has been created; I can't quit the reservation on the sales order beacuse work has been created; if I tried to reduce picked quantity I got an error message telling me that quantities have already been reversed.

I'm getting the same behaviour on transfer orders (not all of them, just a few).

If somebody has any idea of what could have happened, please tell me.

Under Warehouse management --> Inquiries --> History, there's an option called "Shipment Modification Log."  That should show you any unpick actions taken.  Load, shipment, order, LP, where it was unpicked from and where it was put to.

The reduce pick quantity option is available until the shipment is confirmed.  You'll get an error saying "You cannot unpick a load that has been ship confirmed."

Do you have transactions showing the product going to the bay door location?

There's also a Reverse Work option on the load.  I've never used it though, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to do.

Hi BethT, thank you very much for your answer.

I hadn't heard about that Inquiry, it will be very useful. However my shipment doesn't appear there, so the problem comes from another place.

The "Reverse work" option only applys for transfer orders, and in my sales order case I can't use it because the Work is at Closed status. And the shipment is confirmed, however the quantities are reserved on the Sales Order, not picked, what is most strange.

I thought maybe the Reverse Work option could have been what caused your problem to begin with.

If the quantities are reserved, can you just re-wave your shipment and start again?

Hi BethT, for any reason shipment / load can't be assinged to the wave. They don't appear in the list.

The shipment remains at "In process" status.

Hi everybody! I'm having a similar behavior... I have a shipment whose status is Loaded. The work is closed, and the Baydoor location is LP controlled location. I want to reduce the picked quantity. If i select a location with non LP controlled in the Move to location field, I receive the message "License plate specified on a non-license plate controlled location", and if I select a LP controlled location I receive the message  "You cannot move inventory to a license plate controlled location."

I'm stuck in this step and I cannot make this functionality works... Do you have any idea? Am I missing some configuration?

As always, thank you for your help!!

    Regards!

People, I found a KB that solve this error. I'm working with AX2012 R3 CU10. I installed it and it woks fine! The solution is the KB 3197775 Not able to reduce picked quantity on load to a non-license plate controlled location.

    Hope you work too!

    any luck on this issue?

Hi Muhammad. It was a bug from AX when you have to pick the same batch id from different locations (and your item has batch above location on the reservation hierarchy).

Microsoft released a KB, however (as far as I can remember) the problem can be solved using the "Delivery remainder" from sales or transfer orders.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Nick, Thanks for your reply!

I have replied on the behalf of Muhammad. In our scenario we haven't enabled batch, however my transfer order work is also being closed and when I am going to confirm shipment then system generate the error "Insufficient inventory transaction with status on order, reserved order and reserved Physical and then Picked" and then at the same time I'm unable to short Pick or cancel the deliver remaining quantities because of still my work is not in shipped status.

    Thanks,

    Hi Qaisar Khan,

Just to know, which AX version are you working on? I think that to avoid it to keep on happening you need to reproduce it on a test environment to report it to Microsoft, because I'm almost sure (according to what you say) that it could be a bug.

However, for the shipment and work that are "stucked", I can tell you how I fixed them. First you need to check on a "Transactions" inquiry if you see a "Physical reserved" transaction related to the transfer order work on the user location. If that is the case, and your work status is "Closed", then it means that the transactions were incorrectly updated after the work was closed.

You can access (through the AOT) to the WHSWorkTable and manually update the "WorkStatus" field from "Closed" to "Open". Close the AOT, and then go to "Warehouse Management -> Common -> Work -> All work". There you look for your work and clic the "Cancel work" button. By doing that, AX itself will clean the remaining transactions and your items will be "free" again. Later you need to manually (through a Mobile Device inventory movement menu item) moved them from your user location to any other location. Then create a new transfer order. Be careful because if it happened once, it could happen again, that's why I consider important to reproduce the error on a test environment to see why it is being incorrectly updated.

Of course I cannot guarantee that what I have done is correct, it's just a "trick" I found to avoid deleting records from a lot of tables. However I can tell you that I haven't had any problem with that. Obviously, I strongly recommend you to check this first on a test environment.

If you want you can post pictures of your setups (Location directives, Work templates, Warehouses, Locations and Items) to see if I can see anything wrong.

    Hope that helps.

    Regards.
