Is it possible to NOT update firstname and lastname when using Marketing Forms?

Hi,

I am wondering if it`s possible to NOT update First name and Last name when using a Marketing form? My client use marketing Form on their website so their customer can subscribe to a newsletter. I have add  a matching criteria for contacts emails, and do not want to add more attributes because I don`t want any duplicates.

My client don`t want the First name and the last name to update if the email already exist, but want to create a new customer in dynamics 365 if the email does not exist.

Is that possible?

Kind Regards

Camilla

    Hi Camilla,

You can set the Matching Strategy from here.

For example, the default one for Contact identifies a contact uniquely by email which meets your request.

You just need to insert it into a marketing form which you’re using to update/ create your contacts.

There is one special case. For the Event Registration form, the matching strategy for event is defined globally.

It should be defined in the following location.

To know more about Matching Strategy, please refer to:

Thank you for your response, but this does not answer the question from the topic starter.

However, no unfortunately I don't think this is possible OOTB. I experimented with this as well, because now it updates existing contacts first names which is often times not preferred (because they type everything in all caps for example). (my topic from last year...https://community.dynamics.com/365/marketing/f/dynamics-365-for-marketing-forum/407134/possibility-to-not-update-specific-fields)

A working modification could be something like checking if the field 'first name' was updated after a form submission (with power automate) and then write back the old value if it is changed by the system.

Hi and thank you for your responses.

The first responses did not answer my question, but I will follow Niels thread and see if the answers in there can help us.

    Thank you.
