Utilizing the Dynamics 365 for Marketing Solution, when an individual has registered for an event, we need to send them a confirmation email that contains the details related to the event they registered for (i.e. start date and time, location, etc.).
Ideally, using the Marketing Email functionality, we’d be able to create a standard confirmation email template and then use a Customer Journey to send the confirmation email to the registrants. However, when trying to set up the field mappings to pull in the Event information onto the email, the Marketing Email Template is requiring that the field mapping references a specific Event record ID, which wouldn’t allow for us to utilize a single confirmation email template and customer journey to send confirmation emails to registrants who signed up for any event.
It appears that for every Event record created, a new Customer Journey and Marketing Email would need to be created in order to send the registrant the event information specific to the event they registered for. This poses a challenge to end users who set up multiple events per week and do not have the resources to develop a new Segment, Customer Journey, and Marketing Email to send confirmation emails to the registrants.
Can anyone please provide insight as to how we can utilize a single Customer Journey and Marketing Email Template to send confirmation emails to event registrants that contain the information specific to the event that the registrant signed up for?
