I have one production order that is already started, now i get a urgent production order which has to be prioritized. and these two order used a shared machine.

In order to schedule the urgent production order properly, do i have to cancel the first production order that is already started? or there is a alternative way to figure out the problem ?

thanks.

Are you finite or infinite scheduling across the shared machine? Infinite just schedule it from today. Finite would mean a rescehduling of the one consuming capacity outwards to free time for the schedule of the new one.

Hi Steve - I am currently running production and we sometimes receive orders form the sales team which are all dated for high priority. However, the shipping date is a mere formality for us because it is not followed much (eg. there is a rush order from a VIP client due next week).  Is there a way for me to view or have a functionality to allow me to see what orders are top priority for the sales team? Should sales introduce a flag to prioritize by header?  Thank you Carlos

Yes sales would a) need to prioritise, then b) depending upon how you create production or link it you need to translate this into an appropriate field in the production order to indicate to production and c) juggle any related sub-production or purchases needed for the expedited orders if dates are a mere formality.
