I am running AX 2012 R2 and have finished full compile and generated full CIL successfully. Trying to deploy AIF services but ran into following error. Any idea or comment on what could be the issue here ? Thanks in advance.

The port 'AccountsReceivableServices' could not be deployed.\nError:

error CS0008: Unexpected error reading metadata from file 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsAX\bin\XppIL\Dynamics.Ax.Application.dll' -- 'Index not found.'

goto "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsAX\bin\XppIL\", delete all files. Perform a full CIL again. It will solve...

I did that twice but received the same error. Then I did full compile and full CIL and tried to deploy AIF service group but receiving same error. Any idea on what else could be an issue ?

Do a full compile of the AOT, then CIL compile. Finally restart the AOS. Pay attention to the Eventlog (Application) and notice if the assemblies are being deployed without errors.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have it running on our TEST server and this issue exists in DEV instance. So I thought to compare Dynamics.Ax.Application.dll from both the folders (DEV and TEST) and interestingly found that one of the pointer to netmodule file("Dynamics.Ax.Application.dll921.netmodule") is missing in the Dynamics.Ax.Application.dll on the DEV instance where I have an issue deploying service groups. We can probably relate it to the error "Index not found".

Also "Dynamics.Ax.Application.dll921.netmodule"  file does not created by the CIL process. What could be an issue ? Does it mean something is not compiled properly in AX ? But when I did full compile yesterday, it did not show any error.

We are also getting the same error while activating InBoundPort for BI Services. Getting the below error.

The port 'BIServices' could not be deployed.\nError:

error CS0008: Unexpected error reading metadata from file 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\PUNITP269255D\bin\XppIL\Dynamics.Ax.Application.dll' -- 'Index not found.

Any help/Suggestion would be highly appericiated.

    Bhagyesh,

Check what version of .Net framework installed on the AOS box ? It should be .Net 4.0. I was getting the same error after repeated full debug and full CIL. After investigation, we found that actual culprit was .Net framework 4.5 that got installed when we install VS 2012 on AOS server. Removing .Net 4.5 and installing 4.0 fixed the issue.

    Hi Kartik,

Thanks your valuable suggestion. I tried your suggested solution and it works out. But after that what I found that its .Net framework 4.5 RC Version due to which we get the above error. If We install .Net framework 4.5RTM version (Released in AUG 2012), all the inbound ports and respective service group working fine.

So main culprit is 4.5 RC version. With 4.5RTM it works smoothly.
