Hi,

I want to migrate from AX 2009 to AX 2012, just want to know can I migrate all my data from AX2009 to AX 2012, If Yes How ?

Its given to understand me, that I can only migrate only my opening balance and not the transaction as the ER is different in 2012 from 2009

Please let me know

Regards

Selvaraj

    Hi Selvaraj,

You can choose to upgrade or to migrate. Depending on several factors it might be wise not to use the standard upgrade. The standard upgrade only converts data to the AX2012 data model. Then you cannot profit from several new nice functionality such as organizational models. If you have customizations, some might be very tricky to rebuild in AX2012 due to the changed data model.

When you do a migration you can see it as an reimplementation. Then you can use all new functionality as designed and use the new data import/export framework for migrating data from AX2009 to AX2012. You can then choose what details you need to have (only balances or more transactions).

    kind regards,

    André Arnaud de Calavon

    Hi Selvaraj,

If you just want to implement AX 2012 and copy all master data and setup data then you can choose to migrate.

if you want to replicate all your data and code customizations then it is better to go for upgrade.

please review Dynamics AX Upgrade guide to understand how to migrate all data from AX2009 to AX 2012.

As per my understanding it possible to migrate 100% data from AX 2009 to AX 2012 as part of Source to Target Upgrade concept.

You need to check the upgrade path if your source AX version ie AX 2009 is appropriate to your target AX 2012 Version

This details you will find in the upgrade guide.
