Position Hierarchy Types/Configurable Hierarchy in Workflow

Hi Dynamics Community

I need to configure a special 'Reporting To' hierarchy in DFO. Not using (bypass) the normal Line hierarchy in our organization. We do not want to change the setup of the regular org. structure. We want to use this special reporting hierarchy for one particular Workflow ID only. Example: In our organization structure -> Position A reports to Position B and Position B reports to Position C. But in this special reporting hierarchy, Position C reports to Position A and so on.
We want to create this new hierarchy for temporary use and to link to 1 workflow id only. I came across Position Hierarchy Type which can be linked to specific Workflow id. Help needed:

1.) Please advise the steps to configure the employees reporting line using Position Hierarchy Type functionality. I'm quite confused on the use of Relationships tab on Position form as there are 2 'Reports to Position' field inside this form.

2.) In Workflow assignment tab, should I use 'Configurable hierarchy' in hierarchy selection and kindly advise what is the purpose of mandatory STOP condition and what do you mean criteria 'Employee.Line Manager Level = 1'  ?

Appreciate your help on this.

Thank you,
Reign

    Hi Reign,

    1. This form displays the relationship on related configurable position hierarchies. Are two 'Reports to Position' fields in same position hierarchy? They should be different.

    2. "Employee.Line Manager Level" = 1 means that just assign workflow to the nearest person to stop. Please refer to this blog for more information: daxing2012.wordpress.com/.../

    Hi,

Thank you, I went through the links provided.  I have further question :)

What is the value being referred to by 'Purchase Requisition.Approval Amount'?  Is it the total amount  of the PR being evaluated?

I have a scenario where the PR amount is USD 599.75 and the spending limit of requester is USD 700.  I set  an Automatic Approval PR where

Purchase Requisition.Approval Amount <= Purchase Requisition.Requesters Spending Limit.

However the Auto-completion approval condition returned to False.  I expected that it will be True since PR amount is less than the spending limit of USD 700.  The PR still get routed for approval where it should not be since the PR amount is still within the requester's spending limit.  Please advise where I got wrong

    Hi Reign,

You can verify if it is correct setings by adding placeholder of %Purchase requisitions.Approval amount% and %Purchase requisitions.Requester's spending limit% in submission instructions.

Thank you both for the help and tips provided.  I was able to successfully set my Automatic Approval and route my workflow using Hierarchy and Spending Limit.
