Career Path for Dynamics 365 F/O

First of all apologies if this is not the right place to ask this question. There are experts in forum so I wanted to post this question here.

I am working as a Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Developer(Technical X++ Programming language) with more than 3 years of experience in a startup company.I started as a fresher here and i am still working here.

I am working in a product team which has already developed a deep set of extensions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. There are a lot of features already developed after which I joined the organization.

As of now I am getting work on the bugs and inquiries from the clients on the developed features which we have provided.I do get some user stories to work on but it is minimal.
I feel that the learning is very less in the project since bugs and inquiries requires to do extensive debugging on the code and the fix given is usually changing few lines of code.

Usually the client would have changed a setup in their environment and raise an inquiry. As developers we debug and eventually find out there is nothing to do with the code but the change in setup in the client environment or the data present would be the cause of the issue. There is no learning for the developer working on these tasks.

Please give me your inputs on the skills required today in the Finance and Operations domain. There is a talk going around on CoPilot for Finance and Operations. Please shed some light on that as well. What skills are relevant in the market for F/O and what should we learn in Dynamics 365 other than F/O.As of now I only have knowledge on Dynamics 365 F/O ( X++ language).Going forward 5 to 6 years from now will it be relevant for developers to stay in F/O domain ( X++).

Thank you
Badri

    Hi Badri,

Next to Dynamics 365 F&O development, it would be recommended to invest knowledge in the Power Platform. Power Virtual Agents is rebranded to Copilot Studio and can be used to extend the Copilot sidecar with low code (Power Platform components, but also X++ plugins.

    Hi Badri,

My earlier reply got deleted. Besides X++ knowledge, I think a developer should invest in knowledge about the Power Platform and Dataverse. There are some extension options possible using Copilot Studio. AI will be one of the main drivers for ERP.
