Does a vendor need to be a Microsoft Partner to support Dyamics 365?

Hi, thank you for answering my question.

I understand you can find our partner information in Dynamics 365 Partner settings.

Our partner is currently not a Microsoft partner for Dynamics 365.

Question:

1) Does the vendor needs to be a Microsoft partner in order to support customers.

2) What happens if they are not a Microsoft partner for Dynamics 365?

Warm regards

    Hi colinkgl,

To elaborate on Johnny's response, the Silver and Gold partner certifications are there to demonstrate a minimum skillset to customers. You can choose anyone you want to help you manage your Dynamics environment, Microsoft just recommends getting a certified partner.

Beyond that, there are a few hard limits.  If your partner is not certified, they cannot offer CSP pricing (cloud seller). This is MS's pricing that is different than their larger Enterprise Agreement pricing structure, and gives your partner the ability to provide front-line support and configure their pricing to your needs.  It's also exclusively focused on Microsoft's online offerings, largely centered around Office 365 and Dynamics 365.

They also can't use the partner channel for support with Microsoft, they'll have to use your customer channel, and any possible additional costs that might incur.

    Hi colinkgl,

Thanks for your post in the community. Could you share more details like your vendor support type?

If you would like to support/do any customization on their Instance , you just need to apply for a new account with related D365 license in their tenant which doesn't need any partner relationship.

If you want to call support from MS, you could try the following instruction:

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../CRMSupport

    Regards

    Johnny
