Error attempting to Cancel Quantity Remainder on Sales Order that has Picking List Registration posted

Hi,

I have encountered an issue when attempting to Cancel Remaining Quantity on my sales order that has gone through the Picking List Registration. It gives me the error: "Quantity ordered may not be reduced because there are not enough inventory transacdtions with 'on order' status. The items are Sold, Deducted or Picked."  To duplicate the steps:

  1. Create sales order with item for 10 units.
  2. Post Picking List for 6 units.
  3. Post Picking List Registration for the 6 units. (So you have 4 remaining).
  4. Post Packing Slip for the 6 units.
    1. Checking the "Close" will produced the error above.
    2. If "Close" is unchecked, then you can continue posting process.
      1. Now, 6 have been delivered but 4 remains.
  5. Function > Cancel Remainder (the 4 units)
    1. You will then encounter the error above at this point also.

I searched the Forum but did not see anything.  The hotfix does not directly address this issue with the Sales Order either.  If anyone can point me to the right direction to a hotfix or confirm that it is an defect not addressed by a hotfix, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Matthew

Also - for any Sales Order that only get Picking List posted, the "Close" at Packing Slip posting and Cancel Remainder works fine.  This error only occurs only when the SO has been Posted with the Picking List Registration.

Do you have "End output inventory order" checked in the Inventory Management Parameters?

Hi Michelle.  You hit the nail on the head!   No, that parameter is Uncheck.  After checking it, I was able to "Close" it during Packing Slip update and also afterwards using the Functions > Cancel Remainder.  Thank you very much for your prompt attention and correct answer to my problem!

I have not gone back to look at the differences between the behind-the-scene transactions, but functionality it does what I need to do.

    Thanks and happy new year!

    Hi!

I have similar issue where system is not giving any error or cancelling the remaining quantity of a line item in sales order. I tried the above solution, doesn't work. Any other suggestion?

    Thanks in advance.

I have received this error. But my approach is different from the above solution.

In my case the items are listed on the SO but it has not been partially invoice i.e. the delivery remainder qty is the same as the total qty ordered.

In my approach I attempt to just remove the line from the SO completely. At which point I receive an error

Cannot create a record in Voided sales order lines (SalesLineDelete). Sales order: SalesID, ITEMID.

    The record already exists.

My approach now is to query the database table "SalesLineDelete" using the SALESID and ITEMID. I will receive a list of records. I isolate the record but using the INVENTTRANSID which is unique per line on the SO and can be found by looking in "Record Info -> Show all Fields" and looking at the lot ID which corresponds to the INVENTTRANSID. At this point I manual remove (SQL query) the record from the SALESLINEDELETE table which then allows me to remove the line from the SO.
