Does the User Date need to be changed as part of the year end process? If so, when and why does it need to be changed?
It is not required to change the user date before performing year end closing in GP. But if you do it then there is no consequence too.so chill out and perform Year end closing with out any worries

I heard from another resource that the User Date does need to be changed (after year end close) if the pay period ends in the current year and the pay date is in the new year. For example, the pay period ends on 12/28/19 and the pay date is 1/3/20, the User Date needs changed to 1/1/2020.
