Getting "Access denied: DimensionHierarchyConstraintActivate" when posting journals in batch

Hey all, I'm getting /Access denied: DimensionHierarchyConstraintActivate/ when I'm posting journals in batches for some vouchers but some journals were posted without error. Anyone know what the issue would be?

Updated: After debugging, I found out that on line number 115, execution got stopped and the error was thrown. But when I posted the same journal manually, it got posted.

    Hey All,

I appreciate your responses. The conclusion reached after thoroughly examining the issue is that whenever we set up an account structure for a journal, a new record on the DimensionHierarchy table is created with the value of "yes" in the IsDraft field. Does anyone know why this is occurring and what the underlying issue is?

    Hi Krishna,

Thanks for the provided details. With these answers, I think you might encountered a bug. It is indeed not security related. You can check if it works correctly in 10.0.39 and there is even a preview for 10.0.40 available at this moment. If it is also an issue in these two versions, you can create a ticket for Microsoft Support.

Did this work correctly before? Yes
What security roles are assigned to this user? Admin
Are you using custom/configured roles? No
Do you get the same error for the same journals or will it work with a second attempt? Same error with second attempt
Do you have the same error when posting the journal not via the batch framework? No, manually working fine
What exact version of the application are you using? 10.0.38
Do you have customizations in your environment? Not customizations on posting journals

I believe there is no security issue because batch jobs are running though system admin.

    Hi,

Check if you have access to the screen DimensionConfigureAccountStructure. This screen is references the DimesionHieararchyConstraintCriteria table. This table is invoked from screens like Advanced rule structures.

Security privileges to be provided include:

Role to be assigned: Accounting Manager or Accounting Supervisor
Duties to be assigned: Maintain chart of account master
Privileges to be Assigned: Maintain account structure configuration; Maintain Advanced Rules

Happy to answer questions, if any.

I'm able to post the same journal manually and I'm getting this error with a few journals not all journals when Post in batch.

    Hi,
According to the error message, please check your dimension hierarchy to make sure you have security permissions. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/finance/cost-accounting/dimension-hierarchy#define-dimension-hierarchies-for-security-setup
Also, An old thread with similar issues that you can briefly browse: Solved: Access denied to table Dimension code set (DimensionAttributeValueSet) (dynamics.com)
    Best Regards,
    Hana
