Exchange and Dynamics CRM Sync

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 345

The structure of my enterprise system contains:

  • Windows 2003 Server Enterprise R2
  • Exchange 2003
  • Dynamics CRM 4.0 (with working e-mail router)
  • Office 2007

I would like to know if anyone has information on how to sync the contacts and calendars between Exchange data and CRM data. I have the need to use exchange on mobile and my users need to have the informations in real time without the need to use the "CRM for Outlook plug-in".

Thanks in advance for the replies

I have the same question (0)

Have you read this blog entry http://blogs.msdn.com/crm/archive/2006/11/08/microsoft-dynamics-crm-for-the-exchange-administrator.aspx

Basically the default sync functionality is provided by the Outlook client software so you will not be able to do what you need natively. It is possible there may be a third party product that provides server side contact sync but I have not personally seen one.

     thanks

I'm also looking for a solution to Sync Calendar information without the outlook client running. It is a problem when an executive is on vacation and their assistants are trying to check their Outlook calendars for availability. It seems that there should be an option for syncing between exchange(rather then outlook) & CRM or An option to outlook sync more than just your own calendar (Ex. sync with other team members or business unit members).

    Hi Steve,

Im pleased to share that we have a product called MiSync coming out Q4 of 2008. We have been doing this type of CRM to Exchange synchronization for a while now, and im pleased to share that we are now adding support for Microsoft CRM to Microsoft Exchange synchronization. Although this is a bit of an old post, I thought you would like to know about this new server-side synchronisation option:  Riva Integration Server for Exchange and Dynamics CRM:

    http://www.omni-ts.com/newsroom/exchange-crm-integration.html

Riva provides server-to-server CRM integration between Dynamics CRM and Exchange. Because Riva does server-to-server synchronisation, there are no plug-ins to install on any of the Exchange clients. No plug-ins means that all Exchange clients have full, transparent, server-side integration for Dynamics contacts, appointments, tasks, opportunities, quotes, cases, email archiving, etc. No plug-ins means a significant decrease in deployment, upgrade and support costs.  Riva's transparent integration means a higher and faster adoption rate and much higher end-user satisfaction because end-users don't have to learn anything new.  They just keep on using the Outlook client the same way they always have.  The synchronisation is automatic and transparent.

Riva is compatible with on-premise and hosted Exchange 2010, 2007 and 2003. It is compatible with hosted and on-premise installations of Microsoft CRM - with full support for all Exchange clients (Outlook, Outlook Web Access, Macintosh Entourage, BlackBerry, ActiveSync and IMAP).  Riva allows Mac Entourage users to no longer feel like second class MS CRM integration citizens.

I look forward to answering any questions you might have about Riva Integration Server for Exchange.

    Best regards,

Been caught by the Outlook Sync limitation (primary PC only) so came across the omni-ts post as a possible solution.

Looks really elegant and really what Microsoft should have considered and implement from then start.

Would have been the ideal "fix" for us but the cost is prohibitive for a small company like us.

    £200 plus per user.

So any ideas on a budget solution I'd be glad to hear. In the mean time we work round it....

Hello, Pat.  Glad you found out about Riva and find it to be an elegant solution.  A quick clarification on pricing.  The purchase price includes the first year of software upgrades and support.  Additional software upgrades and support are 30% of the purchase price, renewable annually thereafter.  How many users in your environment?  There is also a small business offering for which you might qualify.

    Best regards,

    Aldo

It looks like the December 2012 update from Microsoft has native calendar sync functionality along with a host of integrated 3rd party solutions.

    Source?

I'm looking through this document and I don't see mention of it.

Our partner attended the New York Dynamics business session.  It was discussed as one of the upcoming features along with a host of others.  I've read through the preview guide and believe it makes mention of the integration as part of the Office 2013 compatibility features.

I hope he is right because we certainly need it.
