Wave 2 Early Release - Lookup issue

This is after applying the Early Release Wave 2 update.

Not sure if I am missing something.... But my Lookups behaviour has now changed such that the user cannot see a list of the current values.

  • Typeahead = ok
  • Recent list = ok (configure the lookup to turn off recents  also = ok)
  • Show me all the existing values so I can pick one = does not work any more

With the current behaviour I am seeing, the user would have to know what they were looking for (so they can typeahead) - they need to be able to see the full list as before - otherwise they will sit there an type "A", clear, "B" clear, "C" clear etc to try and find what they need with the typeahead.

I have the same question (0)

It is correct observation. I wanted to provide a workaround to you right away:

To return values similar to previous experience:

    1. Click into Lookup field (list of recent items will display, ignore) do not type anything
    2. Hit Enter key on keyboard to return results

This would return all values (same as Search icon did on a blank Lookup, prior to Wave 2)

Microsoft will follow up if there is an update either us fixing this or otherwise explanation.

Thank you for your question and being vigilant!

Looks like there's already a fix being rolled out for the lookup field behavior in 2019 Release Wave 2: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/preview-for-usability-enhancements-to-lookups-in-unified-interface/

    LA,

We noticed the same thing. This will help. Definite change in behavior but allows you to easily see the list again.

Update: This is now the designed expected experience for the Lookup control starting with 2019 Wave 2.

This is due to change to ensure consistent experience is provided in how user enter the Lookup, so extra step to view all results needed to be added. Program Manager has written a detailed blog post detailing all the changes to the Lookup with helpful animations.

Full post can be found here:

Jukka - to be clear this is not "fixed" in 2019 Wave 2 - it's the designed experience as part of 2019 Wave 2 & going forward.

    Hi,

This change is intentional.  We have simplified the search experience by unifying the entry points. To browse the entity, you will need to press Enter.

Please read more about the usability enhancements here:

    Cheers,

    CM
