Hi everyone, this is maybe a silly question.
In D365, inventory postings all utilize main accounts setup in Posting profiles for various types of inventory transactions (SO, PO, MO, inventory etc); resulting in ledger voucher creations using those main accounts.
If the need is to change inventory asset main account, saying moving from one warehouse to another, and want to change the inventory asset accounts, ie. to distinguish values of stock between warehouses, how can this be achieved?
Thanks all,
Hi there! If you're looking to change the inventory asset main account and distinguish the values of your stock between warehouses, there are a few steps you can take.
First, you'll want to create separate inventory asset accounts for each warehouse you want to track. This will allow you to distinguish the value of your inventory between warehouses.
Next, you'll need to transfer the inventory from the original warehouse account to the new warehouse account. You can do this by creating a journal entry that debits the original warehouse account and credits the new warehouse account.
Once the inventory has been transferred, you can start using the new warehouse account to track your inventory in that location.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
