Fixed Assets Import from Legacy System

Hello all,

We are working on importing Fixed Assets from a Legacy System to D365FO. We will use data entities to import. And I was thinking of setting up two posting profiles, a default one and one for FA opening balance. In the posting profile for the import what should the main account and offset account be for acquisition and for depreciation?

A response will be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Sidra

    Hi,

Why do you need a separate posting profile only for the Opening balance?

    Hi Sidra,

What accounts to be used is specific to the company. What are the accounts defined? In general, I always ensure that the posting of the acquisition will be posted on the normal fixed asset account for the acquisition value and use an "Opening balances" offset account. For cumulated depreciation value, I use for the debit amount the "Opening balances" account and credit will be the normal balance account for cumulated depreciation.

When entering the full opening balance, the fixed asset accounts are also replaced with the "Opening balances" account to clear the balance.

Thank you for the response, I decided not to have a separate posting profile. Once the opening balance journal is posted I’ll reverse the voucher.
