Change status of incident/case using postman call.

Trying to change the status of the case

Patch : [org url]/api/data/v9.0/incidents(incident id)

If i want to change the title and description

I can simply do it, by giving this in body.

{ "title":"abcd",

"description":"fgh"

}

What i need to give in the body, to change the status? I tried giving statecode but it's not working.

Can anyone please suggest? Thanks :)

    Hi Himani,

    Yes you can certainly do it, please refer to this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/developer/entities/incident

    I have also tried this from POSTMAN, please see below screenshot:

    And I am able to verify it's working from UI that the value has been updated.

    Cheers

    Hey! Thanks :)

    i checked, i had some permission issue which was restricting me to update this, but it's perfectly working fine now :)

    I have one more question, would be glad, if you can answer. We have one origin field in dynamics : I want to set my organization name there, but i don't want to create the new option in dynamics. Is there any way, if that option doesn't exist, then still it sets that option by default? If yes, how can i do that?

    Hi Himani,

    May I know which field you want to set your organization name? From which entity?

    Also what's the type of field: plain text? option set? Lookup?

    Could you please also describe more about the scenario when you said "if that option doesn't exist, then still it sets that option by default?"

    Thanks.

    There is one field Origin currently having values like Email, Facebook, Twitter but it doesn't have our organization name, It's an Option Set.

    Current it doesn't have our organization name, but through postman - by default can i set some value, which doesn't exist already?

    Hi Himani,

    Yes, I believe you can use CreateOptionSet message as below:

    Use POST request to [Organization URI]/api/data/v9.0/GlobalOptionSetDefinitions.

    Document:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../create-update-optionsets

    Hope this helps
