Dear forum,
Hopefully someone can help set me up in the right direction: on a recent installation the CRM plugin that we always used (I know it's old but has never failed us so far) cannot find that internal installation has already happend for the windows live sign-in assistant nor can it download it from the website (url no longer exists).
Does anyone have a workaround? Would there be a way to "fool" the application that it has been downloaded and make the application extract and install it?
I know the plugin is no longer supported on my specific version, but as I've said we have been able to update and keep updating since forever. Only now that the application doesn't recognize the installation of the windows live sign-in assistant anymore, causing us lots of problems on newer installed devices such as this one.

Thank you for your hint, with "Microsoft blob". I used a different methode to fix my problem for CRM 11 Client installation with the error message "Windows Live Sign-in Assistant" or "Windows Live ID-Anmelde-Assistent".
On the tab “AutoResponder” -> “Enable rules”
Create two rules with following content (copy&paste for 64bit):
Rule one:
Line 1: http://download.microsoft.com:443
Line 2: http://web.archive.org/web/20200810171641/http://download.microsoft.com
Rule two: (wllogin_32.msi for 32bit Office)
Line 1: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=194722&clcid=0x407
extract CRM 2011 Client Installer to c:\temp (for example)
Dear Nico, I'm able to redirect the fiddler to an archive on the wayback machine... However I always end up with "The installation has failed. EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. Click the link below to view the log file."
It might be a wrong expected version... Could you share yours?

you could download the file on archive.org.
I just picked a date in 2014 and was able to download the file but have no idea if this is 100% save....
f.e.
I got the same issue here, the download is not available anymore, therefore I am hoping to find it elsewhere to try your workaround. If anyone of you has a hint for a safe download link I would really appreciate it.
That's fantastic. I would certainly give it a shot.
Any chance you can share the executable you have? We unfortunately do not have an old copy laying around.
Well, our team found a super hacky workaround. We had an existing copy of the wllogin_32.msi executable that the installer was trying to download.
We uploaded the msi to an azure blob storage container, which created a URL for the file. The original download location the installer was trying to use was download.microsoft.com/.../wllogin_64.msi.
Then we created a fiddler script to redirect all traffic accessing that URL to our blob container URL. Success!
If you need help with the fiddler script,
This is a huge issue for our team too.
Hello, unfortunately I didn't have any luck so far. The weird part is that technically... the download for the live sign-in assistant is still downloadable. (www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx However, even when installed, the CRM plugin still tries to locate it, as if it's not installing correctly and thus the application has to search online, but the url that they use, does no longer exist :(.
It literally worked 3 weeks prior to this ticket... Even without any special tricks, just a manual download !
What that MS rep said was completely wrong, there is still a link, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect anymore, after installing
Any chance you have found a solution to this issue? My client is now having the same problem and cannot install any new instances of CRM2011 Outlook Plugin. Microsoft removed the Live ID Sign-in Assistant from there Download Center and now the CRM installation fails to acquire the requisite files to complete the installation. I have reached out to MS Professional Support and even my Partner channels but no one seems willing/able to help me. One MS rep actually suggested I try to locate the required file from some other website, besides Microsoft. I would assume if the component could be installed prior to CRM then it would be skipped during pre-requisite check but again have been unable to locate a proper working install file (wllogin_64.exe).
If you have had any luck yourself, could you please share.
